Nutcracker Quirk

The original Elf-ed Shelves
Protecting lil’ dancing ballerinas
circa 1892

Shimmering splendor
Folded against a secret box
Nestled under
Blanketed pine

Planning smiles
Surprise lit faces
Beaming bright as summer

Carefully placed thoughts
Bubble wrapped in the bittersweet
Forgotten for another day
Dust lightly blanketing its resting place…

Coffee a-brew
Paired with sweets and snacks galore
Larger than our stomachs
We’re walking through that door

to fingers, ears to nose
warmth radia-ati-ating, placating every woe
Wrapping like a hug around us
That tug on the heart, pitter patter…

In blooms the lush green garden of Spring
As she brings wonder to Gaia…

Summer beckons us to beaches
Sandy toes and salty hair
Waves lapping – smoothed edges of a sea glass heart…

Foliage showers
Spices, those little hugs in mugs…

Oh Winter, the long slumber
Like mother calling you home
She keeps you warm at the hearth
Cozy bundled heaps, you little blanket burritos…
