Of Poetry and Sound: Raw Free Verse of an Overthinker
Coursing
Curdling
Venom through my veins
Like the defenses of a snake
taking a bite in the face of adversity
Bile rising up
The emotions rot when
they are forced back under
with weighted chain, no key
A bottled ship too big for the glass
yet unable to escape
Shimmering splendor
Folded against a secret box
Nestled under
Blanketed pine
Planning smiles
Surprise lit faces
Beaming bright as summer
As Fall leaves of red
Orange and yellow
Flutter to and fro
Dancing across Earth’s floor
In a crunchy symphony of the changing seasons
We snuggle inside
And give thanks to all
Blessed with another year
And those we hold dear
Coffee a-brew
Paired with sweets and snacks galore
Larger than our stomachs
We’re walking through that door
to fingers, ears to nose
warmth radia-ati-ating, placating every woe
Wrapping like a hug around us
That tug on the heart, pitter patter…
