Coffee a-brew
Paired with sweets and snacks galore
Larger than our stomachs
We're walking through that door

Toes to fingers, ears to nose
     warmth radia-ati-ating, placating every woe
Wrapping like a hug around us
That tug on the heart, pitter patter

See, home is not a place
It's a feeling in a space
When you smile and you laugh
Light belonging
Everlasting welcome

Surrounded by those held dear
Home is our happy place
Our saving grace
A memory messily tied by bow
     the new moments that bring a glow

In our lives we have many a-home
Knowing well we will come and we will go
Always there, taken care

Family makes a house a home
Extended to those we're gifted, those we choose
Where the holidays are decorated as we stare
With the best foods you specially prepare

Pictures clutter every corner 
     strewn here and tucked there
To overlook those cherished times
     I do not dare - nor should I want to miss
     that golden window
